Serving

Serving. It happens when the love of God is released to the world because the love of God has been experienced. The Revolution is not just God revealing love to people, nor is it just God resurrecting people to new life by beginning a new revolution of their lives. It is the Revolution of God being released into the world.

If you have experienced a revolution in your life, you know the old patterns of thinking, acting, and living have to change. When people experience God’s Revolution it means serving becomes the outflow of a life that has been changed in a revolutionary kind of way. And if you are part of the Revolution it means there is the desire to change the world and systems that bring harm and brokenness to others. Serving is not as an activity but a way of life. It isn’t another layer that adds more to our lives, but the way of living out God’s revolutionary love into the world.

There is an old Chinese proverb that says, “Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime.” We want to teach people to fish. To change the systems. To offer hope. To give an alternative vision for life and help people obtain it. We do this through a number of different serving avenues that are constantly growing.

Michael Berg – Local Missions Ambassador

We are excited about new leadership in the local missions area! Michael Berg will serve as a Local Missions Ambassador to the Scarlet Hope ministry initiative and will also be helping to develop new local missions initiatives. If you have an idea for a mission project – short term or an agency or ministry to potentially partner with – send him an e-mail at michael.berg@revolutionky.org. Here’s his bio and a picture…

Michael comes to Revolution seeking to make known to others, and experience himself, the fullness which satisfies the age old yearning for purpose.  Michael grew up routinely attending church, but eventually God became just that to him; a routine.  It wasn’t until his interactions with a group called Young Life and the abundantly loving students and adults involved that he began to experience the never ceasing adventures and creativity of God.  Eventually becoming a leader of Middle and High School students himself, Michael came to see that God desired to be relationally involved in the joys and sorrows of everyone, and that he was continuously pursuing people to partner with him in that effort.

It was during and after college that Michael further discovered the involvement of God in our day to day lives, even outside of traditional ‘church activities’.  As a business major, he saw that we could be used in our everyday professions to enact change.  It is his hope that his current work will be used to daily teach new perspective on God’s creation.

Michael graduated from the University of Kentucky where he obtained a B.A. in Marketing and Management as well as a B.S.B.E. in Economics and a minor in International Business.  He is married to his beautiful and encouraging wife, Erin.  His hobbies include snow skiing, biking, fishing with his dad, photography, abusing movie quotes, and being convinced to do things with a strong chance of slight injury.

International Mission Trip Opportunity – GO Ministries

A group from Revolution is heading to the Dominican Republic from 6.19 – 6.26, 2012 and our Dominican Republic team has been finalized! The international trip will teach the entire Revolution community how to serve even locally in Louisville…yes, locally! Find out how by getting involved; prayer, financial support, specialized times of worship and more. Are you are interested in sponsoring the trip? E-mail Michael Berg. Watch the announcements for worship and prayer times.

While Revolution is a Community that desires long-term involvement with those we serve locally, we do believe that a short-term mission trip has the ability to inspire deeper, sustained, Christ-lead relationships within our own local community. Time away from our normal routines, witnessing how God is moving amongst those in need in the Dominican Republic can allow us to see how He is resurrecting the lives of individuals and families each day who are living right next door. As we prepare for and make decisions about how each of us will support this trip, please be in prayer, listening to how God may use you and this experience to make a difference for His people.
