Start a Renovation Group

Is God calling you to lead a Renovation Home Group? Our home group leaders are the front-line heroes of Revolution Church, providing spiritual leadership, accountability, teaching and modeling, pastoral care, and much more with the support of our staff pastors. They are the first people we call when we need prayer, the ones we look up to when we’re trying to find our way, the ones we celebrate with, the ones who know us closely and are involved in our lives on a weekly (if not daily) basis.

Leadership Qualifications

To be a leader, you need only to be one step ahead. Renovation Group leaders aren’t chosen for their theological degrees, superior biblical knowledge, or world-class leadership skills. They’re chosen based on three main criteria… First, they’re called by God (and said yes). Second, they exhibit Christlike character. And third, they have proven themselves competent as leaders through their existing service and faithfulness as members of Revolution Church.

Specifically, to be a leader at Revolution, you need to be a member in good standing for at least 6 months. This helps us get to know each other and make sure our community is a good fit for you and your family. Leaders are self-initiators in their spiritual walk. They are generous contributors of time and money to the mission of the church (that is, they take ownership of it). They understand and demonstrate the mission of the church in their daily lives, and they are looked up to by the community.

Of course, you might not feel all of these things right away, and that’s okay. Another leadership quality, called “humility,” might make you feel unworthy, but our team is here to help you and equip you to be the best leader you can be and to bear as much fruit as possible through your small group.

Commitment

Renovation Group leaders commit to one year at a time and sign a covenant agreement with God and the church to lead well. They are the first-responders and front-line heroes of our church. They don’t just offer hospitality and lead weekly discussions, but they are the first to know the needs of their group, to pray with or visit their group members in a crisis, to call out the giftings in their group and develop new leaders, and to lead their group in service to their community.

At the least, this requires a few hours a week of preparing for your gathering, communicating with your team, praying for your group, and following up with members individually. But it can be much more than that, too. We believe in holistic small groups that fulfill more than just a relational need within our community. In fact, they are a vital part of every area of ministry within the church, from discipleship to outreach to teaching to stewardship. There’s no telling where God might lead you in the context of close-knit Christian community, and we’re excited to see where He will take you next!
